The Quality & Range of our Number Plates
At Craigsplates we use the latest high tech equipment to design, build and manufacture your number plate or show plates. All our ABS Substrate plates are manufactured to BSAU145d; this makes them stronger, more impact resistant, and therefore last a lot longer than the old style plates. Before you ask, ABS stands for Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, so now you know why we just refer to them as acrylic!! You must display a white reflective plate on the front and a yellow reflective plate on the rear (unless your vehicle is pre-1973, in which case you have the choice of modern coloured plates or black background), according to UK legislation.
We also hold in stock a huge selection of different sizes; create your own (custom made) show plates, Import Plates and American Number Plates. In addition we have a vast array of motorbike plates and bike signs for ´off road´ use (show plates), Specialist sizes for Jaguars, TVRs, Rover 75, and Aston Martin. Plus over sized rear oblongs and self adhesive plates. We have also just added to our range genuine embossed German Plates and French Plates.
Signs and Show Plates
If you require a differently spaced or designed acrylic or metal plate then we have to sell this as a ´sign´, for ´off road´ use. We place a disclaimer on the back advising you that it is sold as a sign, and it is not to be fitted to any vehicle using the UK roads. Please note: Due to British number Plate Law changing on the 1st of Novemeber 2008, all our show plates are now shipped from the Republic of Ireland (Co.Wexford), this means your order WILL take longer to arrive! (please allow between 2-12 working days)
Road Legal Number Plates
There are only two fonts permitted on road legal number plates - standard (plain legal) and 3D font. Personalisation, non-standard images, or honeycomb backing are not legal. The spacing of the numbers and letters in your registration must match that printed in your V5C logbook (registration document). If you want to know the legal requirements for road legal plates then please visit the DVLA website. If you choose to place your order through our plate-maker, it will only show you those options that are currently legal. If you want something smarter than standard acrylic plates, why not choose die pressed aluminium, these are by far the smartest plates, and still available on a next day delivery.

Our plates are made of the highest quality materials sourced from suppliers around Europe, thus resulting in the best quality plates at a price that won´t leave you feeling out of pocket. All our plates come with a 12 month guarantee; they will not let in water (like the old style plates used to!), making them last a lot longer. We recommend that you use our stick-on pads or frames for fixing, all of which are available for you to select when placing your order.
